RESUMEN

A sustainable training system for acupuncture-moxibustion and tuina professionals, integrating "medicine, industry, education and research" is established, under the main framework of the medicine-engineering interdiscipline, and with the consideration of the issues of medicine, the application of engineering technology, the thinking approaches of sciences, and the collaboration of business studies. It is the potential power to support the development of traditional medicine. Through analyzing the difficulties of the medicine-engineering interdiscipline of acupuncture specialty, and in association with the experiences of the early-stage development of the collaboration between medicine and engineering, the paper presents the cases of China's higher education reform and transformation under the background of "emerging medical education" so as to explore a replicable personnel training mode.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the mechanism of action of "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen" in the treatment of prostate cancer using network pharmacology and molecular docking. Methods: The active ingredients and targets of "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen" were obtained by searching the TCMSP and DrugBank databases. These were matched and corrected using the UniProt platform. A drug "active ingredient-target" network map was constructed using Cytoscape 3.8.0. Prostate cancer-related targets were acquired from GeneCards, Disgenet, DrugBank, and other databases. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network between the drug and prostate cancer was constructed with BioGenet; the crossover network of the two targets was extracted derive the key targets of "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen" for prostate cancer treatment. We used the Metascape platform for GO and KEGG enrichment analysis of the key targets. AutoDockTools1.5.6 and PyMOL software were used to perform molecular docking. Results: We obtained 13 active ingredients, 221 drug targets, 1511 prostate cancer targets (including 221 key targets), and 305 KEGG pathways from "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen." Paclitaxel, quercetin, kaempferol, TP53, ß-sitosterol, EGFR, and ESR1 in "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen" showed good docking activity. Conclusion: "Fructus Ligustri Lucidi-Cuscutae Semen" is a valuable clinical guide for the treatment of prostate cancer with multicomponent, multitarget, and multipathway characteristics.

RESUMEN

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCHM) is the naturally available pharmaceutical with millennia of evolution from ancient China, capable of a superior therapeutic index and minimized unwanted effects on the human body. This work presents a therapeutic microrobotic platform based on pollen typhae (PT), a typical type of TCHM, fabricated by coating porous PT microspheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles (PT robots) via electrostatic adsorption. The PT robots exhibit effective and controllable motion in various biological media upon external magnetic control and, meanwhile, preserve the inherent hemostasis property of PT. The blood clotting capacity of PT robots is attributed to their stimulation of the endogenous blood coagulation pathway and platelets with increased counts, which could be further improved by their effective magnetic propulsion. The remote magnetic control also allows the manipulation of PT robots in mice stomach, inducing enhanced binding and prolonged retention of PT robots in stomach mucosa. Moreover, PT robots upon magnetic control show an enhanced hemostatic effect in treating the mice bearing acute gastric bleeding compared with other passive groups. This work offers a facile and feasible route to integrate TCHM with manmade micromachines possessing the innate curative features of TCHM. Such a design expanded the versatility of microrobots and can be generalized to vast types of TCHM for broader biomedical applications.

Constipation is a common problem in sows and women during late pregnancy. Dietary fiber has potential in the regulation of intestinal microbiota, thereby promoting intestinal motility and reducing constipation. However, the effects of fibers with different physicochemical properties on intestinal microbe and constipation during late pregnancy have not been fully explored. In this study, a total of 80 sows were randomly allocated to control and one of three dietary fiber treatments from day 85 of gestation to delivery: LIG (lignocellulose), PRS (resistant starch), and KON (konjaku flour). Results showed that the defecation frequency and fecal consistency scores were highest in PRS. PRS and KON significantly increased the level of gut motility regulatory factors, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), motilin (MTL), and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in serum. Moreover, PRS and KON promoted the IL-10 level and reduced the TNF-α level in serum. Furthermore, maternal PRS and KON supplementation significantly reduced the number of stillborn piglets. Microbial sequencing analysis showed that PRS and KON increased short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)-producing genera Bacteroides and Parabacteroides and decreased the abundance of endotoxin-producing bacteria Desulfovibrio and Oscillibacter in feces. Moreover, the relative abundance of Turicibacter and the fecal butyrate concentration in PRS were the highest. Correlation analysis further revealed that the defecation frequency and serum 5-HT were positively correlated with Turicibacter and butyrate. In conclusion, PRS is the best fiber source for promoting gut motility, which was associated with increased levels of 5-HT under specific bacteria Turicibacter and butyrate stimulation, thereby relieving constipation. Our findings provide a reference for dietary fiber selection to improve intestinal motility in late pregnant mothers.
